[VICTOR] The six-day VIETNAM OPEN GRAND PRIX Held in Ho Chi Minh City came to a successful close. 15 year old VICTOR player Inthanon Ratchanok from Thailand won the woman’s gold, her first win in a major adult international badminton competition.
Using her considerable talent effectively, Inthanon Ratchanok performed consistently well through the heats and made it to the final smoothly. In the first set of the final she led from the start, denying her opponent any chances. Her attacks from the rear of the court left her opponent with no answer, allowing her to win the first set without much trouble. Her opponent started off the second set better, however, in the middle stages Inthanon Ratchanok steadied herself, and her patient approach allowed her to win point after point, giving her the second set and a 2-0 victory that gave her the VIETNAM OPEN GRAND PRIX women’s crown.
Inthanon Ratchanok has achieved excellent results in various major international badminton events since she began participating in 2007. In 2009, at the age of 14, she took Thailand's first World Youth Cup and held onto her title in Mexico this year. In May 2005 at the BWF dinner, she was named the star of tomorrow with most potential, showing how highly she is regarded in world badminton circles. In this year’s Asian Games she will represent Thailand. We believe she will continue to improve and we look forward to see her perform even more brilliantly in international badminton competitions and achieve more outstanding results.
