Lee Sheng Mu / Fang Chieh Min and  Lee Hyun Il take runners-up spots at the Swiss Open

Lee Sheng Mu / Fang Chieh Min, Chinese Taipei’s a leading men’s doubles pair, went down 21:13, 21:14 to Japanese pair  Shoji Sato/Naoki Kawamae in the final at the Swiss Open, taking second place. Chinese Taipei’s head coach, Zhang Zheng Xiong, said the pair were clearly out of sorts on the day, the usually solid defense at the heart of the defense and counterattack strategy they usually execute so adeptly couldn’t keep out the attacks of their opponents; their impatience led to them making too many mistakes, putting them at the mercy of their opponents.

In the first game of the men’s singles final Lee Hyun Il was unstoppable, his opponent having no answer to his driving-dink assault, the South Korea taking the game 21;14. However, in the second game he hit his shot outside the lines on a number of occasions and his opponent, China’s Chen Jin, took the game 9:21. Lee Hyun Il clearly ran out of steam in the deciding game and went down 17:21 to lose the match two games to one, having to settle for the runner-up spot.
