South Korea’s sights on the titles

South Korean players showed their prowess in the first round of the 2013 VICTOR Korean Open; in the men’s doubles, Kim Ki Jung/Kim Sa Rang took out Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia, 21-19 21-1; Lee Yong Dae/Ko Sung Hyun needed just 29 minutes to see off Robert Blair/Bin Shen Tan, 21-13 21-1;in the second round the South Korean pair will play Danes Rasmus Bonde/Mads Conrad-Petersen.

In the women’s singles, Sung Ji Hyun defeated teammate Min Ji Lee and will play one of China leading women’s singles players Jiang Yan Jiao today;Bae Youn Joo went through to the next round after China’s Wang Yi Han pulled out of the match and will play Hong Kong’s Gu Juan in the next round.

 

In the mixed doubles, Shin Baek Choel/ Eom Hye Wo beat Songphon Anugritayawon/Kunchala Voravichitchaikul with relative ease 21-14 21-15 and will play No.6 seeds Fischer Nielsen/Pedersen in the quarter finals
In the women’s doubles, Jung Kyung Eun/Ha Na Kim beat Jillie Cooper/Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland 21-9 25-23 and will play Indonesia’s Aprilsasi Putri Lejarsar Varicella/ Vita Marissa in the next round.

 

Chinese Taipei players through to next round after overcoming tough opponents

Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying was up against Thai prodigy Ratchanok Inthanon who has been in good form recently; Tai dropped the first game 13:21 but came back to take the second 22:20 after the game reached deuce;she went on to take the deciding third game 21:17, fighting back to take the match after going one game down.

 

The first round match that pitted Chinese Taipei’s Tsai Chia Hsin/Lee Sheng Mu against Cai Yun/Fu Hai Feng saw the pair from China withdraw from the match half way through the first game due to injury, allowing the Chinese Taipei pair to proceed directly to the next round where they will go up against Thailand’s Patiphat/Nipitphon.
