Australian Open 2013: The Indonesian team walks away the biggest winner
Irfan / Weni & Shin Baek Choel / Jang Yi Na
The winners received a toy kangaroo as a souvenir, the runner-up a koala!

At the Australian Open in the first week of April the Indonesian team did very well, taking three golds and a silver. The mixed doubles final was especially exciting; the Indonesian partnership of Irfan Fadhilah and Weni Anggraini (on the right in the picture,) of whom great things are expected in the future, went head to head with the ROK’s Shin Baek Choel/ Jang Yi Na (on the left) who took the title at the German Open just last month; the Indonesian pair emerged victorious in a three game match, 21-14, 22-24 , 21-16.

Indonesia has always performed well in the mixed doubles disciple and now occupies nearly half of the spots in the world top 15 (seven).

The big tournaments of April are the Australian Open (April 2-7, already held,) Badminton Asia Championships (April 16-21) and the India Open Super Series (April 23-28). For the latest tournament news keep an eye on the VICTOR Tournament Calendar.
