Victory Chant Sung by Teary-Eyed Ji Hyun

2015-09-21

Knees down. Hands together. Finally we saw Sung Ji Hyun give the signature celebration when she wins a tournament, as she took her second career Superseries victory, with both titles coming at the VICTOR Korea Open. It was almost three years of wait.

And it was much tougher this time. She had to fight past Taiwan’s top seed Tai Tzu Ying in the quarterfinals, before knocking out last week’s Japan Open runner-up Akane Yamaguchi and China’s fourth seed Wang Yihan, both with a 21-18 decider, to finally capture her second Superseries title. Teary-eyed, Sung was handed the winner’s check worth S45,000 from VICTOR president Bill Chen.

This is Sung’s second BWF Tour title in the 2015 season, after posting a win over Spaniard Carolina Marin at the German Open Grand Prix Gold tournament in February which was her sixth G.P. Gold level success.
