At the just concluded Malaysia Masters yesterday, Indonesian rising men's singles player Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo won the championship with swift and aggressive style of play in his Super 500 final debut!
Currently ranked 45th in the world, Wardoyo beated his compatriot, the bronze medalist in the 2020 Olympics Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in QF, and made it to the final where he faced Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong. Wardoyo scored points with his sharp attacks and lifted his first Super 500 title at 22-20, 21-15!
Indonesian legendary men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan advanced to the finals for the third time this season and signed off with silver medals after losing to their compatriots Antonius Ariantho/Fajar Alfian.
Chinese Taipei women's singles player Tai Tzu Ying and mixed doubles player Hu Ling Fang both made it to the semifinal. Hu and her partner lost to the top-ranked duo in three close games which impressed everyone.
