[VICTOR News] The 2011 SCG Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold 2011 came to an end on June 12. Chinese Taipei’s Lee Sheng-mu and Jian Yu-jin took the mixed doubles crown, another major tournament win following their victory in the Canada Open last year. South Korea’s Lee Yong Dae/Jung Jae Sung took the men’s doubles, their third tile in a major tournament this year after winning the VICTOR Korea Open Super Series Premier at the start of the year and the German Open.

On June 12th, Chinese Taipei’s Lee Sheng-mu and Jian Yu-jin took the mixed double’s title. Facing an Indonesia pair, the two didn’t give their opponents many opportunities, taking the title in just 31 minutes, 21-10 and 23-21.

After the game Chinese Taipei’s Head Coach Liao Guo-mao said, “ Sheng-mu ’s ability to deal with the shuttlecock in the middle of the court is improving all the time, while Yu-jin’s touch at the net is becoming more delicate, giving them many opportunities to take the initiative.

The key to their victory in this game was their use of speed to pressure their opponents, plus the fact that Sheng-mu’s ability at the back of the court was brought into play quite effectively. I hope the pair will perform well in the next two tournaments in Singapore and Indonesia.”

Lee said, “I had a bit of an upset stomach over the last few days but I forgot it as soon as I went on court and I’m really happy to have won.”

In a titanic struggle, the first game went to deuce, before the Koreans took it 24-22. In the second game the Koreans began to get used to their opponents’ style, taking it without much trouble 21-14, to claim their third tournament title of the year 2-0.
