Chinese Taipei mixed doubles pair fight their way to second place

[VICTOR News] In the finals of the Singapore Open Super Series 2011 on June 19, Chinese Taipei’s Chen Hung-ling/ Chen Wen-hsin made it to the mixed doubles final where they met Indonesia’s strongest mixed doubles pair at present, Tantowi Ahmad/ Liliyana Natiser. The fighting spirit of the Chinese Taipei pair was admirable and, although they didn’t manage to win in the end, their outstanding performance in Singapore this time set a new record for Chinese Taipei in the Super Series.

After the game Cheng said “I’m not too happy. In the first game we didn’t play well so can’t complain about losing, but I am angry at myself for serving poorly at crucial times in the second game. This problem can’t be overcome in a short space of time but we will both still try our best in the Indonesia Super Series tournament, and then gradually try to resolve this problem after.”

As for the South Korean team, Ha Jung Eun/ Kim Min Jung, who made it to a Super Series women’s double final for the first time, in the end took the runners-up spot. The popular pair Lee Yong Dae/ Jung Jae Sung went out in the semi-final stage.

In other events, the men’s singles final saw China’s Chen Jin take first place and his compatriot, Lin Dan, take second; the women’s single’s saw China’s Wang Xin take first place, beating Denmark’s Tine Rasmussen in the final; as for the men’s doubles, China’s Cai Yun/ Fu Haifeng took first place.
